Hi People. Has anyone got any idea about reversing sensors??

When I put my rover 45 in reverse gear the sensor audio goes beep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep (for as long as its in reverse) whatever is behind me, whether its a wall, a car, or nothing at all?? Or, any idea where the sound comes from so I can disable it??

Any help here will be greatfully received.

Hi, this is a pretty common problem. I´ve got several solutions. First try to clean the sensors, maybe the problem is just caused by some dirt on the sensors. If the clean doesn't work, try disconnecting the sensors one at a time to find the faulty one. If that also doesn't help, it could also be water trapped in the wiring loom usually the connection prior to it entering the boot. Unplug the connector give it a good spray of WD40 to displace the water, shake the excess out and use an electrical contact grease. Reconnect and wrap connection in insulating tape.

Hi There. Many thanks for your reply. I have had a quick look underneath the rear bumper and seen the setup. I dont think its dirt on the sensors as the car is very clean.More likely to be the wiring as you said. If i get some time later today I will try to disconnect the plugs on the sensors and feed it all through the hole where it goes into the boot, undo all the insulating tape and check the wires for breaks with a digital volt meter. Also clean off all the dirt from the sensors. Actually,I remember a couple of days ago it actually worked ONCE!!

then back to long beep again, so the sensors should be ok. But,if one sensor is bad, would it still work with 3???

Many Thanks.

I believe it would still work with three, but then it will confuse you, because the sensors will not show 100 % real information. And I dont think that there is a possibilty to buy a single sensor, but only a whole set.

Hi There. I got down under the rear bumper today and uncliped the plugs on the sensors, gave them all some wd40, reconnected the plugs and still the same. I pulled the wiring and the plugs back through the hole where it leads into the boot area (had to cut some wires but put markers on them so i know where they go)also had to be careful as there are wires to the rear number plate lights. Anyway, got the sensor wires in the boot,I was going to check each wire with a mini digital multimeter but it would take forever so i thought i would buy some wire and cut right back as far as i can (one at a time) and renew the wiring to the sensor plugs and if that dosn't work, GIVE UP!!

I will let you know what happens, might be a few days though.

Many Thanks.

Hi People. I have just spent the best part of 2 days renewing all the wiring to the parking sensors, checking my every move with a digital multimeter.Refitted the plugs to the sensors, jumped in the car, started up,put in reverse,1 short beep, then silence. After congratulating myself for roughly 10 seconds thinking I had fixed it,then, BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

I have disconnected the plug from the white control box that goes to the speaker so there is no sound now but I thought I might get a new control box and try that, but, does anyone know how to remove the other 2 plugs that go into the box as I have squeezed, tugged, squashed, pushed, with no success. Ime sure there must be an easy way?????????
